Jakob Lothe
(Norway)
Dr. Jakob Lothe DC is elected member of the Board of the World Chiropractic Federation (WFC) representing the WFC European Region since 2022.
Dr. Lothe received his Doctor of Chiropractic in 1988 from the Anglo-European University College (AECC) in Bournemouth, England and has for the past 35 years practiced in Oslo, the capitol of Norway. Jakob is married to Cecilia, also chiropractor and AECC graduate and they have two grown up children.
Dr Lothe served as NKF President from 2010-2018, prior to which he had held office within the Board since 2002. In his capacity as NKF President, Dr Lothe also served on the General Council of the European Chiropractors´ Union (ECU) during the same period.
From his early professional career he identified the strong need for more interprofessional collaboration in the musculoskeletal field and is actively promoting the need for a greater focus on the impact of disability due to musculoskeletal disorders with special emphasis on back and neck pain.
He holds extensive experience of professional governance, interprofessional collaboration and political expertise with a proven track record of transforming vision into reality through innovative projects and political processes that have delivered tangible results in Norway in particular with respect to building musculoskeletal research capacity and state funding thereof.
Dr. Lothe became involved with the Bone and Joint Decade from its’ beginning in Norway and has chaired the Norwegian Council for Musculoskeletal Health from 2009 to 2021. He was appointed National Action Alliance Task Force Coordinator to the International Coordinating Council (ICC) of the Global Alliance for Musculoskeletal Health (GMUSC) in 2017 and became a full member of the ICC in 2022. In this capacity he is now representing GMUSC in the WHO World Rehabilitation Alliance that was launched in Geneva, Switzerland in 2023.
